In mid-January, Home-Start UK hosted a virtual Home-Start Volunteer Awards ceremony to recognise and celebrate the impact that Home-Start volunteers make across the UK. There were 6 award winners, including Malcolm Stanley from Hymans Robertson, who won the category of ‘Corporate Volunteer’ for his incredible support for Home-Start Lambeth! 🎉 We’re also delighted that Amelie – the daughter of one of our members of staff – received an Extra Applause nomination for the category of ‘Local Home-Start Supporter’. 🧡 💜
Malcolm, our ‘Santa’ 🎅🏻
Hymans Robertson, a pensions & financial services consultancy, have been supporting us for years, a partnership made possible by Malcolm, who’s always advocated for us internally & ensured Hymans Robertson’s involvement in our activities.
We refer to Malcolm as our Santa, not only because he is Santa at our Christmas parties, but because we send him our wish list and he makes it come true! Last year, for instance, we wrote to Malcolm to ask for his support in redecorating our office. He spoke with his colleagues at Hymans Robertson & managed to secure funding for new office lights and paint & brushes. He also went above and beyond to find colleagues who could paint our office walls and ceiling. Thanks to him & Hymans Robertson, our office is now glowing! 🎨
Amelie, our “little star” ⭐
Amelie is only 10 but has already supported us in so many ways – from drawing our team’s caricatures for our website to helping her mum (one of our Family Coordinators) promote, organise and occasionally deliver our family groups. She’s quickly become our holiday little helper, helping to flyer the neighbourhood & produce activity prototypes which she thinks other children might enjoy making at groups.
Amelie demonstrates enormous empathy and understanding. Looking back at 2020 and early 2021, her occasional visits to the office were one of the things that most brought us joy and energy to keep going during those difficult times. She’s a little star in many ways: she’s shiny and has a positive and bright presence. Her brightness and caring nature guided us through the pandemic and continues to guide us today! ✨
