Ways to Volunteer

Home-Start Lambeth volunteers are the core of our organisation, as they are the ones who directly support local families and make our mission possible.

There are a number of ways in which you can volunteer with us:

Volunteer with our families

Support a Family

Support a family with young children

Offering in-person support to a local family with children under 5 is at the core of our service delivery. By giving weekly one-to-one support to a local family at their home or at public spaces, such as a park, you can help ensure that those children’s precious early years count.

“Working as a Home Start volunteer has been as rewarding for me as it has been for the families I have met. Watching the mums navigate their way through their life challenges and to then see them feeling positive about the future is just amazing. It feels a privilege to be a part of that journey”

Jules, Home Visiting Volunteer

“ At first I was nervous—would the family like me, would they want me in their home, what could I possibly offer? But within weeks I realised that even small things, like encouragement or reminding them that things can get better, can have a real impact. Supporting the dad through this tough time has shown me how even a few hours a week can make a difference”

Stuart, Home Visiting Volunteer

“I’ve been feeling very positive just about life and the things I’m doing. Honestly, I feel like the volunteering is one of the things that have been so meaningful to me and aligns so well with my values and what I want to give and do in this world. I’m so grateful for it, and I think it’s really helped my mental wellbeing since starting this. I think the two are connected. Thank you for the opportunity.”

Support with social media

A Social Media Volunteer plays a key role in raising awareness and engaging the community for our charity supporting children in Lambeth. In this role, you’ll help create and schedule content across platforms such as Instagram, sharing impactful stories, updates, and campaigns that highlight our work. You’ll work closely with the team to develop creative ideas, respond to messages and comments, and help grow our online presence.

This is a great opportunity to build your digital skills while making a meaningful difference. We’re looking for someone who is enthusiastic, reliable, and passionate about supporting children and young people. Experience with social media is helpful, but most important is a willingness to learn and a genuine interest in our mission.
